How to Clean Burnt Pots

Burnt pots can leave stubborn spots on the surface. Scorched foods are hard to remove and can be very greasy. With proper knowledge of the cleaning procedure, you will certainly achieve a shiny and new looking pot using an inexpensive cleaning agent.

The things that you will need are warm water, mild soap, sponge, baking soda, plastic bowl, stove, wooden spoon and white vinegar.

Here are the few steps in cleaning burnt pots:

  • Wash your pot with warm water and mild soap. Remove as much food particles as possible with the use of a sponge. Rinse your pot with running water and set it aside.
  • Get a plastic bowl and pour in warm water. Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of mild liquid dishwashing and allow the soapy solution to boil.
  • After boiling, remove the pot from the stove and cover it. Allow the soapy solution to soak for 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Use a wooden spoon in scraping away scorched food and rinse it again with running water.
  • For stubborn dirt particles, pour in the moderate amount of baking soda into the pot. Add the small amount of warm water to make a paste. Wipe the paste in the surface of the burnt pot and let it sit for 2 to 3 hours.
  • After soaking, pour in 1 part of white vinegar to 3 parts of warm water. Turn on your stove and allow the vinegar solution to boil for 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Let it soak for several hours.
  • Scrub the surface with a sponge. Make sure to remove burnt foods.
  • Rinse your pot with warm water and remove any vinegar residue.
  • Wipe your pot with a dry towel and place it in a proper place.

The vinegar solution also has germ-killing action. Avoid using strong cleaning solution as this can damage and lose the coating of your pot.
